These 3 parangs were also purchased from that kindly fellow down under. They are beautifully rendered art pieces- finished off with primo blades! The carvings on the 5 1/2" handles and 16" scabbards are very well done and worthy of collection and purchase by themselves. Check out the carving close-ups. They are that good! There is a handwork/forged steel collar holding the 15" curved blade, notched at the base and ornately engraved in a wavy, almost pamor type pattern. This pattern is partially polished off on portions of the blade and of varying thickness; indicative of their handmade quality. The dealer suggested the blades are "most likely" reforged car springs, a common practice in many parts of the world. They are solid and well mounted. The toothed edge on the top of the blade adds to the imposing appearance of these blades. Overall, excellent current made blades from the south pacific. | Stag & Steer Detail |
