| High Carbon Steel Blades | - Should be kept clean & lightly oiled or waxed. Mineral, Clove oil or Hanwei Sword Oil are good choices.

- Avoid using water based preservatives.
- High carbon steel blades should NEVER be stored in a leather scabbard; leather tannins are corrosive to steel.
- Check & maintain monthly.
- A product we recommend and use daily to keep blades clean, protected and shiny is Metal-Glo, available below.
- For badly rusted and/or pitted blades we recommend a Rust Eraser.
- Follow all directions and remember using an abrasive will mark the blade.
- Old and/or Antique Blades should be checked by a local professional before attempting cleaning, restoration or repair!

| Stainless Steel Blades | - Keep clean.
- Wipe down with a clean, dry cloth if necessary.

| Leather Scabbards | - Store dry & flat.
- An all purpose leather cleaner/conditioner can be applied if desired.

| Wood Scabbards | - Keep clean & dry.
- Check wrappings and for warping or checking regularly.
- Maintain & repair as needed.
- Storing High Carbon Steel Blades in wooden scabbards is good for both blade and scabbard.

| Handles, Mounts & Wraps | - Keep clean & dry.
- Wire wraps need regular checking to prevent raveling. Hanwei sword oil works well. Leather may need to be roughened to maintain grip.
- Keep all fittings tight and clean.
